State-owned Historic Scotland, owner of the defunct Dallas Dhu distillery that has been turned into a museum, is looking into restarting whisky production at the historic site.
As part of a plan to establish Dallas Dhu as a major Scottish whisky tourist attraction, a feasibility studed has been commissioned. This was made public by Fiona Hyslop, Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Culture and External Affairs.
Dallas Dhu was founded in 1889 and had to close in 1983, in a time when many distilleries were given up by there owners due to eceonimic difficulties.
